Pedipalp

Pedipalps are the second pair of appendages in Chelicerata (arachnids and melostomes).

In spiders, the male's pedipalps are hypertrophic and contain the reproductive organs.

In scorpions, pedipalps are pincers.

Male spiders are often recognisable by their hypertrophied pedipalps. © Gonzak, Flickr, cc by nc nd 2.0 Male spiders are often recognisable by their hypertrophied pedipalps. © Gonzak, Flickr, cc by nc nd 2.0
