Night vision

Night vision is the ability to see in the dark.

The mutation of opsin, a protein involved in transmitting visual signals between neurons, can give an animal night vision. Mutated, opsin can create a sensitivity of theeye to different wavelengths.

This is why some insects, such as the cockroach or the halictus, can find their bearings in the dark.
