Carabidae

Carabidae is a family of insects that belongs to the Coleoptera order. Some species from this family are unable to fly due to their fused elytra.

Carabidae are spread over 1,800 genera (including beetles) and about 40,000 species.

They are generally carnivores and especially valued by farmers, who use them for biological pest control. Some of them are also granivores.
