Acari

Acari are tiny animals, visible under a microscope, cousins of insects and crustaceans (arthropods). Acari found in household dust are often allergens. They feed on human skin flakes and are widespread in mattresses, pillows and carpets. They grow best in warm and humid environments. In drier environments, they dehydrate and die.
