VIRTIS

VIRTIS is an imaging spectrometer in the visible and infrared spectra with high and low spectral resolution. It is on board Venus Express and designed to analyse Venus's atmosphere.

VIRTIS will study the composition of the lower atmosphere, under cloud cover, at altitudes of 35 to 40 kilometres. It will observe clouds at ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths, offering scientists the possibility of studying atmospheric dynamics at different altitudes.
