Time origin

In 1984 the time origin was set to 1 January 2000 at 12h00 on the time scale in question. It is the date 2 451 545.0 in the Julian calendar and is denoted by J2000.0 or J2000. By definition the start of the Julian year is separated from the standard epoch (J2000) by an integral number of Julian years.
