Tide

Tide is a generic term for the gravitational pull that one or several bodies can cause on the surface of a celestial body. The Earth is especially subject to the attractive forces of the Moon and the Sun, which (especially the Moon) have their biggest effects on the hydrospheric mantle (oceans and seas) that covers our planet; they also affect the lithosphere and the gaseous envelope of the atmosphere.
