Supernova

The cataclysmic explosion of a star that can temporarily shine brighter than an entire galaxy of billions of stars. This happens when a supergiant star exhausts its nuclear fuel, causing the core to collapse releasing a large amount of energy that ejects the outer layers of the star, leaving only neutrons or in extreme cases, a black hole.
