Rich cluster of galaxies

A rich cluster of galaxies is a cluster of galaxies containing hundreds of large galaxies. The nearest rich cluster is Virgo. The richest of these clusters may contain thousands of large galaxies. Most of the rich clusters in the near universe are listed in Abell's catalogue.
