Red dwarf

A red dwarf is the smallest and dimmest of the stars. Around 80% of stars are red dwarfs, but none are visible to the naked eye from Earth. As they have very low luminosity - about 1% that of the Sun - the smallest of them must be able to last for thousands of billions of years. They are classified as type M.
