RADARSAT-1

RADARSAT-1 is a sophisticated Earth observation satellite developed by Canada to monitor changes in the environment and natural resources of the planet.

RADARSAT-1 was launched in November 1995, giving Canada and the whole world an operational radar satellite system capable of delivering large amounts of data at high speed. Using its multiple beam operating modes, users can obtain images over a 45 to 500 km wide band, at resolutions varying between 8 and 100 metres and at angles of incidence from 10 to 60 degrees.

The valuable RADARSAT-1 image data archives are continuing to grow, making a record of the Earth's surface.
