Magnetar

A magnetar is a neutron star with an extremely intense magnetic field exceeding 10¹⁵ Gauss.
The origin of such an intense field is probably related to the dynamo effect applied to neutron stars that are rotating fast enough.
One in ten supernovae gives birth to a magnetar.
