Interstellar dust

Interstellar dust is specks of matter floating in space resulting from the clustering of a small number of molecules. This interstellar dust can be formed in various ways:

• By stars at the end of their life, which eject large amounts of matter around them;
• by the slow condensation of molecules in space;
• by supernova explosions, which are true interstellar dust "factories".
