GMES

Global Monitoring for Environment and Security is a European programme launched at the end of the 1990s as the European contribution to the GEOSS network.

GMES will set up a European Earth observation system which will make it possible to better understand environmental phenomena such as floods, land occupation trends and atmospheric chemistry, and contribute to civil security in Europe.
