Extrasolar

Means "outside the solar system". Extrasolar planets are often referred to; they are planets that do not orbit around the sun, but around another star. They are also sometimes called exoplanets.

The first extrasolar planet was discovered in 1995 at the Haute Provence observatory in France (by Mayor and Queloz). By July 2012, 777 extrasolar planets had been found.
