EOS

EOS (Earth Observation System), is the key part in the NASA Earth sciences programme; it is a collection of space systems and interdisciplinary scientific studies designed to increase our understanding of global change.
The biggest EOS satellite, Terra (previously EOS AM-1), provides essential measurements on the physical and radiative properties of clouds, energy, carbon, and air/earth water and air/sea water exchanges, trace gases and volcanoes.

Research in progress by the EOS embraces a wide range of disciplines including atmospheric chemistry, hydrology, land use and marine ecosystems.
