Eccentric anomaly

In Keplerian elliptical motion an eccentric anomaly is the angle (OP, OM') where O is the centre of the ellipse, P the periastron and M´ is the point on the circle of radius OP projected on to OP at the same point as the point M representing the position of the body at time t.
