Canadarm

Canadarm is a robotic arm designed and manufactured in Canada that equipped the American space shuttles. It was put into service on 13 November 1981 during the Columbia space shuttle mission (STS-2).

The Canadarm, which is manoeuvred by an astronaut on board the shuttle, was used to carry out a variety of tasks: deployment and retrieval of satellites, shuttle maintenance, extravehicular activities (EVA) and building the International Space Station.
