Antares

Antares is the brightest star in the constellation of Scorpio. Its name means anti-Ares, or anti-Mars, differentiating it from the planet Mars. This is because like the planet, Antares is red in colour and it can be confused with the red planet.

Antares is a red supergiant 500 light-years away, and is the 15th brightest star in the sky.
