THX

THX comes from the name of the sound engineer (Tom Holman eXperiment) from Lucas film who developed a specification for mixing and rendering film sound tracks. The purpose was to obtain a final result as close as possible to what the director initially wanted. It was not therefore about coding sound but rather about a "quality label".
