Saproxlyic

Saproxylic organisms, from the Greek words sapros, rotting, and xylos, wood, are organisms that depend on dead wood for their life cycle, whether for shelter or as a food source.

These organisms take part in recycling organic matter.

This fungus that grows on a cut tree trunk, feeds on the dead wood. It is therefore a saproxylic organism. © Hashidity CC by-nc-sa This fungus that grows on a cut tree trunk, feeds on the dead wood. It is therefore a saproxylic organism. © Hashidity CC by-nc-sa
