Perfluorinated compound

Perfluorinated compounds, or PFCs (perfluorooctanoic acid, PFOA and perfluorooctane sulfonate or PFOS, for example) are organic compounds with a fully fluorinated carbon chain (contains fluoride atoms).

Use of perfluorinated compounds

These perfluorinated compounds are highly heat resistant and dissolve easily in water and fats.

They are therefore used by manufacturers in many fields.

Risks of PFCs

However, they are strongly suspected to be toxic for man and the environment.
