Natural regeneration

Natural regeneration refers to the ability of an environment, most often a forest, to regenerate itself without external intervention following a disturbance (e.g. natural disaster, forestry).

In forestry, natural regeneration is a forest management technique that is both economic and ecological. It creates forest zones that are richer in biodiversity than those found in single species forestry.
