Amendment

An amendment is a product added to soil to increase its fertility by improving its pH (lime, ammonium nitrate), structure (sand, vermiculite) or nutrient elements (compost, wood ash).

Amendments are therefore used in agriculture and gardening to improve the land and make it more productive. One of the most well known amendments is lime, used to reduce soil acidity.
