Asymptotic giant branch

The Asymptotic giant branch, AGB, is part of the evolutive path of a star in the main sequence, of a mass comparable to the Sun. In this case, at the end of its life, the star becomes unstable and ejects its outermost layers to form what is known as a planetary nebula.
