Spinplasmonics

Spinplasmonics is the name that was given in May 2007 by a Canadian university team from Alberta (Abdulhakem Elezzabi, K. J. Chau et Mark Johnson) to a technique consisting of controlling a plasmonic device (which transmits information at a very high rate through a phenomenon combining light and electrons) using a spintronic system (which uses electron spin rather than electrical charge to transport information).

According to the authors spinplasmonics makes it possible to produce high performance electronic circuits in which information would be transmitted over certain preferred channels using light.
