Spectral colour

A spectral colour is a colour originating from the decomposition of the light spectrum. The colour is said to be pure if it is only composed of a single wavelength like a laser beam.

Magenta is a non-spectral colour because it is composed of a mixture of blue and red, colours from both ends of the visible spectrum.
