Orbital

An orbital is a mathematical function representing the stationary wave associated with an electron interacting with other particles in an atom or molecular species, and determining the region of space corresponding to a probability of presence given to this electron and to its energy level.

Note: The elliptic form of the expression "orbital wave function".
