Kelvin's postulate

Kelvin's postulate is the formulation given by Lord Kelvin of the second law of thermodynamics and is equivalent to Clausius' postulate.

It is stated as follows:

"A thermodynamic transformation of which the only result would be to transform heat extracted from a source at a uniform temperature into work, is impossible".
