Green flash

A green flash is a phenomenon caused by the dispersion and absorption of the atmosphere at dusk or at dawn. It can be seen under conditions that must be highly favourable where the Sun has just risen or set. The green colour is the last visible part of the vertical spectrum of the Sun as it sets, blue being absorbed and red having disappeared first.
