Fading

Fading is the interruption of the propagation of radio waves either by attenuation due to unfavourable atmospheric conditions in the layers involved in transmission (the ionosphere), or when using reflection from the troposphere, or when the transmitted waves follow paths that lead them to the receiver in opposing phases.
