Convection

Convection is the set of movements caused in a fluid mass (liquid or gaseous) due to differences in density and temperature in various areas of the mass. If the lower part of a mass of liquid is heated, the hot liquid nearest to the source of heat decreases in density and tends to rise, giving way to denser, colder liquid. This is how a continuous movement is generated within the mass which contributes to transporting heat.
