Bure laboratory

The Bure laboratory is an underground laboratory in France for the study of nuclear waste. It consists of a 40 metre long tunnel 445 metres below ground which is packed with instruments and is where the mechanical behaviour of argilite and its capacity to trap radionucleides for long periods (several million years) is being studied.
