Polyhaline water

Polyhaline water is water that is moderately saline, but less saline than sea water. The salinity of polyhaline water is between 16 (brackish water) and 30 (sea water).

Polyhaline water is generally found in the salinity transition zones of estuaries.

In estuaries, the salinity gradient defines several zones of increasing salinity. Polyhaline water is found in one of these zones. © Boby Dimitrov CC by-nc-sa 2.0 In estuaries, the salinity gradient defines several zones of increasing salinity.
