NAO

The NAO (North Atlantic Oscillation) is the fluctuation of atmospheric pressure differences between the Azores anticyclone and lower pressure in subpolar areas (Iceland). It is characterised by an index: the difference in pressure between the Acores and Iceland. The higher the index, the more intense western atmospheric circulation is over Europe.
