Coriolis effect

The Coriolis effect is the centrifugal force caused by the Earth's rotation. It exerts its influence over all moving objects, including the atmosphere and oceans. In the Northern hemisphere winds are diverted to the right. Thus, between the Tropics and the Equator winds are diverted to the East. Tropical cyclones form in this zone.
