Uric acid

Uric acid is a nitrogen base belonging to the purine family. It is the final catabolic product of purines and nucleic acids in the human body. Excessive concentrations of uric acid in the blood causes gout, a condition caused by crystallisation and formation of solid sodium urate collections in some joints, beneath the skin or in the kidneys.
