Tumour antigen

A tumour antigen is a molecule specifically present on the surface of tumour cells and absent or present in small amounts on normal surrounding cells. The presence of these tumour antigens is used to develop "anti-cancer vaccines", to stimulate the immune response against the cancer cells.
