Somatic

Somatic describes something affecting the body, in contrast to psychological. It concerns all cells in the body except for germ cells or gametes. A somatic mutation, which affects the gene of a somatic cell, disappears with the carrier. A germ cell mutation can be transmitted to the carrier's offspring.
