Semen

Semen is the liquid expressed by the male genital organs during sexual intercourse. It contains spermatozoa and nutrient seminal fluid (mucus, amino acids and fructose). Absence of spermatozoa in semen is an abnormality called azoospermia.

The semen is frozen and placed in liquid nitrogen for storage in sperm banks for use in artificial insemination.
