Pneumoconiosis

A pneumoconiosis is a lung disease caused by various mineral dusts being inhaled and being taken up in the lungs.

Silica dust (SiO2) can for example cause silicosis, whereas asbestos fibres can produce asbestosis. Both of these diseases are classified as pneumoconioses.
