Neoadjuvant

The term neoadjuvant refers to an auxiliary treatment administered before surgery in order to make surgery possible or to preserve the function of the organ that is to be operated on (as opposed to adjuvant). For example: chemotherapy to reduce the size of a tumour before it is surgically operated on.
