Isomalt

Isomalt (C₁₂H₂₄O₁₁) is a polyol used as a sweetening agent (E953).

Excessive intake may have laxative effects. It has a sweetening effect of 0.5 i.e. it tastes half as sweet as table sugar (sucrose).
