Ischaemia

Cessation of, or inadequate, blood supply to part of the body or an organ which deprives cells of oxygen and causes them to die (necrose). Ischaemia may be due to obstruction in a vessel (thrombosis) or compression of an artery (stenosis). Infarction occurs as a result of ischaemia.
