Irradiation

Irradiation is a synonym of radiation. Group of electromagnetic waves or charged energy particles. Some irradiation can cross materials, including biological tissues. That is why they can be used to produce diagnostic images (bone radiograph, mammographs, etc.) Some irradiation can also destroy cells or prevent them from multiplying: this is why they are used to treat cancers (radiotherapy).
