Inherited

Inherited describes the disease transmitted from a person through his/her genes and to some extent present in his/her genetic pedigree. Cancer is not an inherited disease: on the other hand predisposition, in other words increased risk to some tumours (for example, breast, prostate, colon) may be transmitted by genes and therefore may be hereditary (approximately 5 to 10% of cancers).
