These polypeptide molecules are immune system hormones produced in response to different stimuli. They are involved in regulating immune functions and also any haemopoiesis and haemostasis. The most widely known are the interleukins (IL), interferons (IFN), haemopoietic growth factors (HGF), and tumour necrosis factors (TNF).
