Cystic fibrosis is a fatal genetic disease caused by a change in the composition of mucus (higher viscosity than normal), mostly secreted by respiratory and gastrointestinal mucosal membranes. The disease is characterised by handicapping respiratory problems (bronchial obstruction), gastro-intestinal problems (intestinal obstruction), and nutritional imbalance
