Bacteriostatic

In medicine the term bacteriostatic describes the action of substances (antibiotics, antiseptics) which restrict growth of bacteria.

Bacteriostatic substances have similar inhibitory properties. However, they do not kill the bacteria and do not remove the need for regular maintenance of hydrotherapy equipment.
