Aneurysm

An aneurysm is a dilatation of a blood vessel due to a weakness in the vascular wall. An aneurysm can compress its neighbouring neuronal structures causing pain or other symptoms (such as diplopia (double vision), if the optic nerve is compressed). Aneurysms are liable to rupture causing occasionally fatal internal haemorrhage.
